Directing the feature film A Face in the Rock.

James earned a Bachelors Degree in Theatre and English at the University of Michigan in his home state; he then went on to achieve an MFA in Acting at the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington in Seattle.

James has been based in New York City as a Professional Actor since 1993, and 'went pro' with Actors' Equity Association in '93, AFTRA in 1995, and SAG in 1997. As a Union leader, he is presently serving his second consecutive term as a National Councilor for Actors' Equity.

Teaching and directing has also been a part of his professional career: James has also taught, directed and lectured at the collegiate level at Franklin & Marshall College, the University of Michigan, Concordia College, the University of Washington, and New York University.
